I’m so glad you’re here to explore the transformative power of yoga with me. Now offering in-person classes in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan, I invite you to dive into this journey of self-discovery and connection.
Together, we’ll navigate the complexities of our inner and outer worlds, working to reveal the unique rhythms that make us who we are. Through asana, pranayama, mindfulness, and meditation, we’ll uncover inspiration, support, healing, and a vibrant community. It’s an honor to share this journey with you.
With gratitude,
Carter
My mission is to redefine “yoga” as a practice that can help us deepen our understanding of ourselves and our world. I offer an inclusive practice designed for every BODY, regardless of shape, flexibility, or experience. Guided by universal truths and a touch of humor, my approach is straightforward: we’ll breathe, move, feel, and repeat. Be warned—you may find freedom, joy, and laughter along the way. This is a safe space for you to be authentic, vulnerable, and explore yourself fully.
I've been practicing yoga since 1995. My journey began with the physical practice of Ashtanga, which helped me heal from injuries sustained in sports like hockey, football, and motorcycle racing. In 2002, after completing my first feature documentary, ONE, my focus shifted to yoga’s spiritual dimension. While making the film, I was fortunate to learn from some of the world’s most inspiring spiritual teachers—Deepak Chopra, Robert Thurman, Ram Dass, and Thich Nhat Hanh, to name a few. Their wisdom helped me bridge the body-mind connection, paving the way to explore the classic eight-limbed path of Ashtanga with the legendary Beryl Bender Birch in 2005. With Beryl’s encouragement, I began teaching immediately.
My teaching style is a blend of many paths—hatha, vinyasa, yin, flow, and restorative—bringing the richness of yoga’s diversity to support each student’s unique journey.
